Elite qualifying miles

Elite qualifying miles are frequent flyer miles that count toward achieving elite status with a given airline. With that elite status come extra airline perks not granted other travelers. Typically, miles earned by making purchases on a credit card do not help you attain elite status. Only actual miles flown do that. However, some upscale credit cards allow you to earn elite miles just by making purchases.
