Emancipated minor

An emancipated minor is someone who has not yet reached the age of majority — usually 18 — but has by court order or actions become independent of his parents or other adult supervisors. Among the rights granted to emancipated minors is the right to enter into binding legal contracts, such as a credit card agreement.
