Envelope budgeting system

A cash-based way of controlling spending by creating an envelope for each category of your expenses — groceries, transportation, etc. Each payday, you put money into the various envelopes based on what you expect to spend in that category. When the money in the envelope is gone, you have to wait until the next payday to spend any more in that category.
