Point-to-point encryption

Point-to-point encryption (P2PE), sometimes referred to as end-to-end encryption (E2EE), encrypts card data from the time that it is entered into a merchant’s point-of-sale device until it reaches a point of secure decryption such as the payment processor. It is considered a defense against RAM scraping, in which hackers search the memory of merchant POS systems for payment card numbers.
