Primary account holder

Primary account holder is the informal term sometimes used to refer to the initial or main user of a credit card account. Like any account holder, the primary is responsible for the debt, for paying account balances and can make changes to the account. Any secondary users listed on the account are considered authorized users and would not be responsible for paying account balances.
